Tour itinerary
Meet your guide in central Moab and board your 4WD vehicle for the 30-mile (48-kilometer) journey to Canyonlands National Park. You’ll travel a section of the 25-mile (40-kilometer) White Rim Road circle, which offers breathtaking desert vistas of this red rock wilderness, including the cliffs of Dead Horse Point soaring into the azure sky.
As you enter Canyonlands, you’ll see the White Rim formation, an immense rock terrace 1,000 feet (300 meters) above the powerful Colorado and Green Rivers, and roughly the same distance below the Island in the Sky mesa. Look for large horn sheep in the pion and juniper woodland on the steep cliffs.
Your guide suggests several short but somewhat difficult walks just beneath the White Rim Sandstone level. You may scramble to caves and other viewing sites overlooking the Colorado River, or you can relax beside the car and soak in the scenery.
The Canyonlands 4WD trip includes a fantastic buffet-style picnic lunch with cold water and lemonade. Before returning to Moab, take in the must-see views of Gooseneck Overlook, Lathrop Canyon, Musselman Arch, and the Shafer Trail.

Testimonials
Blane, our guide, took us on a fantastic 4WD tour of Canyonlands, even whipping up a fresh chicken salad wrap lunch in a quiet canyon near the Colorado River.

The excursion is highly recommended. We had a fantastic guide who was also a terrific driver. Stillwater was the name of the car, and the driver, whose name we regrettably forget (Bud? ), was quite knowledgeable about geology. It was a fantastic excursion that added to our Arches/Canyonlands trip. The lunch was delicious, and the tour was outstanding.
