Tour itinerary

Temple of Olympian Zeus

The Olympian, one of Zeus’ largest ancient temples and famous marble monuments, is located between the Acropolis and the Ilissos River.

Acropolis

The Acropolis, the grandest and most significant sanctuary of ancient Athens, was built to honor the city’s patron goddess, Athena. It has stood at the center of Athens for thousands of years and its unique structures, including the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the Propylae, and the Theater of Dionysus, are marvels of ancient architecture. These structures have had a profound impact on art and culture throughout the ages and are in perfect harmony with their natural surroundings.

Theater of Dionysus

Dionysus was the god of wine and grape harvest. The Dionysus Theatre in Athens was where the works of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes were first performed.

Temple of Athena Nike

The Temple of Athena Nike was built in honor of the Greek gods Athena and Nike. Nike was considered the goddess of victory, while Athena was worshiped as the representation of triumph in battle. The temple’s cult statue of the goddess was said to be wingless so she could never leave Athens.

Erechtheion

The Erechtheion is an ancient Greek temple located on the Acropolis of Athens. It was built to house a wooden cult statue of Athena and to celebrate the power and influence of the city.

Parthenon

The Parthenon is a remarkable temple situated on the Acropolis hill in Athens. It was built in the mid-5th century BCE as a dedication to Athena Parthenos, the Greek goddess known as “Athena the Virgin”. The temple is considered the epitome of the Doric order, which is one of the three Classical Greek architectural systems that is known for its simplicity and elegance.

Ancient Agora of Athens

The Agora served as the central hub of ancient Athens, providing a bustling confluence of political, economic, administrative, social, religious, cultural, and judicial activity.

Temple of Hephaestus

The Temple of Hephaestus, an ancient religious building that has been remarkably well-preserved over time, was a crucial place of worship for two significant deities who were revered by many merchants and shop owners in the Ancient Agora. The temple was dedicated to Hephaestus, the god who protected metallurgists, and Athena Ergani, the goddess who protected potters and artisans.
