Tour itinerary

Day 1: Amman (QAIA) – Madaba – Nebo – Petra

Jordan’s capital, Amman, is a contemporary metropolis with several historic ruins. The medieval Citadel atop Jabal al-Qala’a hill features the pillars of the Roman Temple of Hercules and the 8th-century Umayyad Palace complex, noted for its great dome. The Roman Theater, built into a separate downtown hillside, is a 6,000-person capacity 2nd-century stone amphitheater that hosts infrequent performances. Madaba is an old Jordanian village located southwest of the capital Amman. The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George is famous for its 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land. The Madaba Archaeological Park protects the mosaic-rich Virgin Mary Church as well as relics from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic eras. Mount Nebo, the biblical hill, overlooks the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.

Mount Nebo is a ridge of the Abarim in Jordan that rises 710 meters above sea level. The Hebrew Bible mentions it as the location where Moses was allowed a vision of the Promised Land.
