Tour itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech - Tinghir

Your 3-day desert journey from Marrakech to Merzouga will begin in the early morning. Take the Tizi Ntichka pass and the high Atlas Mountains to Ait Benhaddou. Make many stops along the route. See the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, which has also acted as a filming location for a number of Hollywood blockbusters. Before lunch, continue to Ouarzazate and Kasbah Taourirte. In the afternoon, drive to Tinghir through the Valley of the Roses before arriving at your accommodation in Tinghir. Dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Tinghir – Merzouga

Following breakfast at your Tinghir hotel, your tour will begin today with a drive along the route of 1001 Kasbah to the Tinghir Oasis, where you will diverge to a secondary road going down the river to the Todra Canyons.
Following some free time to take in the vastness of the cliffs and lunch at a local café (at your leisure), travel early in the afternoon to Erfoud, famed for its date market and the starting point for historic commerce caravans traversing the Sahara desert to Tombouctou.

Continue on to Merzouga, passing through some rocky desert terrain. Meet your camel caravan at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes and ride your camels across the spectacular color-changing dunes with the sunset on the horizon as a backdrop. Just before dusk, arrive at your Sahara Desert tent in the midst of nowhere.
After taking in the views of the dunes and surrounding landscapes, prepare for a Moroccan meal cooked beneath the stars close to a bonfire. Late at night, listen to Berber music performed by the local hosts on drums.

Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech

Meet your driver and return to Marrakech after an early breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road. When you drive through the Valley of Flowers, stop for lunch before continuing on to Marrakech across the high Atlas Mountains. By 8 p.m., finish your desert trip in Marrakech.

Testimonials

We had a great time throughout these three days! Ibrahim, our tour guide, was really kind and attentive to our requests and inquiries. The sights you see on the journey are breathtaking, and the desert is breathtaking. Be prepared to sleep in the Berber camp; depending on the time of year, it may be quite chilly at night, and the restroom is located outside the tent. Overall, it was a positive experience. these 3 days in Morocco were amazing

In these 3 days in Morocco, we had a terrific time on our excursion to the Sahara. It was really professionally planned, and the desert dunes were spectacular. The guided tour of the kasbah was less stunning than imagined. All of the personnel were really kind and helpful, and they went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. We chose to return to Fez after dinner instead of Marrakech, and we were offered a room at the hotel to spend the time until getting a lift to the bus station. Our wonderful bus driver, Younes, was an excellent guide who assisted us in organising our return journey to Fez. Thank you very much! We would suggest the excursion!
