Next, stand on the Bridge of Freedom and witness the release of convicts in 1953. Immerse yourself in this ancient landmark’s cultural and emotional relevance while collecting memories against a gorgeous natural setting. Then, visit the DMZ Theater, which provides a South Korean viewpoint on the Korean War, and the DMZ Exhibition Hall for a better knowledge of the region’s history. This includes a tour of The Third Tunnel, a riveting journey back in time that reveals North Korea’s invasion intentions. End your excursion at Dora Observatory, where high-powered binoculars provide clear views of North Korea, including its propaganda town and the faraway city of Kaesong.
Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park
This park was created to comfort the refugees who fled North Korea during the Korean War.
Bridge of Freedom
You will visit the Freedom Bridge, which was erected in 1953 to free 12,773 convicts. The bridge was utilized by South Koreans returning from the north. So, decades later, walk in their footsteps to experience the space’s cultural and emotional significance! The bridge, set against a stunning natural backdrop, is an excellent location for photography, so get inspired and make some memories!
DMZ
DMZ Theater: The Past in Action At the DMZ Theater, you may view a brief, 7-8-minute video on the Korean conflict. The film presents a South Korean viewpoint on the Korean War, how the DMZ came to be, and the current situation. It also provides some background on North Korea’s invasion tunnels. Having recently been through the third Infiltration Tunnel, it should be quite informative. DMZ Exhibition Hall: The Best Place for History Lovers. The next stop on your DMZ adventure is the Exhibition Hall. You’ll notice some crucial artifacts here that will help you comprehend our tragic past. A tour through the Exhibition Hall, which contains images, papers, and historical artifacts, will offer you with a deeper and more visual understanding of the struggle. There are several exhibits on show, as well as some intriguing historical information.
The Third Tunnel
The third infiltration tunnel is a must-see visit on our itinerary. The tunnel, which is located 12 kilometers from Munsan and 52 kilometers from Seoul, was found in 1978. Its objective was to launch an invasion of the South. The tunnel is 1,635 meters long, 2 meters high, and 2 meters broad, with the capacity to move a complete division per hour! The interesting element here is that when the tunnel was discovered, North Korea claimed that the South had built it for a surprise attack, although evidence suggests otherwise. Walking inside will seem like you’ve traveled back in time!
Dora Observatory
Enjoy excellent views at Dorasan Observatory. The Observatory, located at the summit of Dorasan, is great for viewing over the border. This is the section closest to the north and one of the tour’s most popular attractions! Get a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of reclusive North Korea on our half-day DMZ trip! Use the high-powered binoculars on the third floor for added precision. You will be able to witness the North Korean propaganda town, which is located exactly within the DMZ, as well as Gaesong, North Korea’s ninth-largest city. If you’re lucky enough to be here on a clear day, you can also view Kim Il-sung’s bronze monument! Dorasan Observatory was recently restored and reopened on October 22nd, 2018. The improvements increased its height and angle. You may now enjoy an unobstructed view of Kijong-dong, Gaesong City, and Gaesong Industrial Complex!
