Tour itinerary
Day 1:
Choose to be picked up from your hotel in Colombo, Mount Lavina, Negombo, or Bandaranaike International Airport. On the way to Kandy, be met by your driver and sit back and relax. Settle into your 4-star hotel and prepare to unwind for the evening.
Day 2:
Breakfast at the hotel before seeing the 500-year-old wood carvings at the Embekke temple, the Buddhist temple of Lankathilaka, and the ancient temple of Gadaladeniya.
Visit the shrine of Lord Buddha’s Holy Tooth Relic and see the big Buddha statue at Bahirawakanda Buddha. Visit Kandy Lake for a lovely drive along the upper lake. Before retiring to your accommodation for the night, take in a cultural performance.
Day 3:
Recognize the Buddhist and Hindu architecture at the Nalanda Gedige temple ruins. Visit a factory in the town of Matale for a live wood carving demonstration. See the well-preserved Dambulla rock cave temple in the afternoon. Return to your hotel to unwind for the evening.
Day 4:
Visit the remains and monuments of Polonnaruwa, the historic capital of Sri Lanka. Afterward, proceed to Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage 5th-century stronghold. Ascend 1200 stairs to the top for a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding area. Return to your hotel for the night.
Day 5:
Visit Anuradhapura to witness a vast complex of monasteries, temples, houses, bathing waters, and an intricate irrigation system. Discover Buddhism’s origin in Sri Lanka at the Minintale mountain summit. Relax for the rest of the evening at your hotel.
Day 6:
Make your way to Yapahuwa, the historic capital of Sri Lanka, where you may appreciate buildings from the 4th Kingdom of Sri Lanka. See a gigantic rock castle that held the Buddha’s Holy Tooth Relic for 11 years. After that, spend the night in Negombo at a hotel.
Day 7:
Let your driver transport you back to your hotel in Colombo, Mount Lavina, or Negombo, or to the Bandaranaike International Airport.
